Singing in The Rain The Musical A Review from a Homeschooling a Ballerina

Part of our Homeschooling Journey, I make sure that we also watch Plays and Musicals as one of our field trips. I love everything about Theater so we decided to watch Singin' in The Rain at The Theater at Solaire.

We've got our Tickets for Singin' in The Rain here in Manila.

It will be raining 12,000 litres of water on stage and this probably the only musical you can watch where you can actually really get wet and need to wear a rain coat while watching if you're seated in the first 5 or 6 rows. The show opened this August 20, 2015 here in Manila at The Theatre at Solaire. We were excited to see the performers Sing and Dance on Stage while it was raining.
Singin' in The Rain was Made famous by Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in the 1952 film of the same name, Singin’ in the Rain is set in 1927, and tells the story of Hollywood’s first movie musicals.

This was the stage Set up at Solaire before the show. The backdrops will turn into an amazing sight during the show with vivid colors.

Singin' in the Rain

The show was full of beautiful dancing and great music from the 1920s - 1950s era like "Beautiful Girl" and "Dream of You" and of course the very famous "Singin' in the Rain". There was a lot of Tap Dancing and Jazz during the show. The storyline was also nice based in Brooklyn New York during the time Real Movies was made. It was a Funny and Very Entertaining Show. Our favorite part was the time it rained during the show and Duane Alexander the lead actor was splashing all the water from the stage to the audience. The audience in the first 5 rows had their raincoats prepared. The effect was awesome, fun and memorable.

Me and my homeschooling ballerina really enjoyed the show :)

Memories from Philippine Dance Cup Ballet Competition 2014 - Twinkle Toes Ballet and Music Academy

My daughter Natalie was 10 years old during the competition. This was the first National Ballet competition she joined. She competed under the Junior Solo 11-13 years old both Classical and Contemporary with around 35 competitors from other schools. She was very nervous during her first routine. It was so brave of her to join since she was only 10 and she was a lot younger and competed with kids who were older than her especially those in the age group of 13.

It was a very tough competition the judges were well known and most of the from the International Ballet Schools there was Irene Lo from HongKong and Malu Rivera-Peoples and Myra Beltran.

Some of the competitors had also been joining International ballet competitions like the Asian Grand Prix and has already garnered awards there.

Natalie won 9th place Contemporary Category combined for Boy and Girls and she got the 6th highest score from those who competed. We didn't really expect her to win anything yet coz she was the youngest in the group. It was a great experience for her to learn from and met lots of new friends.

The Philippine Dance Cup Competition is only held every 2 years. The next one will be on 2016 and she is preparing again with a lot of hard work.

Natalie with Ysabel from Twinkle Toes who also won an Award during the Philippine Dance Cup.

Natalie got a Teddy Bear Gift from us after the Competition.

Mind Museum Annual Membership Highly Recommended for Homeschoolers

We decided to buy our 1 year Annual Membership at The Mind Museum to supplement our Homeschooling classes.

We will get access to different Science Lectures, Activities, Group Science, Live Chat with International Science Specialists in Mind Museums Cafe Scientifique, Access to Arts Science Arts Activities in their Makers Space, Experiments, 3D Mutimedia Shows, Science Group Games, and a Planetarium, Space Camps and Educational Sleepovers.

I'm thinking if we homeschool and we dont have a regular access to a Science Lab then this is the answer and it's even better.

So far as of today it's been around 2 months only since we've availed our annual membership and it has been very worthwhile. I would really recommend The Mind Museum to other homeschoolers.

I've included some details from the Mind Museum website incase you decide to be a member as well. If you join as a group with other homeschoolers at least a group of four you will get an additional discount.

This place is also a great place to go on Homeschool field trips if you will come with your co-op group members or other homeschooled kids. I'll be adding more details on a a new post to what special activities we have joined in each of our visits.

Our first year of Homeschooling.

It's our first year homeschooling. My daughter came from a traditional school for 8 years so this something new for her. I'm hoping it should be more fun because there will be more field trips, workshops and out of town trips.

We decided to homeschool so she could focus more on what she likes which is Ballet.  Join us in our journey on the road less travelled...which is Homeschooling. She will be training hard to become a professional ballet dancer one day.
